The DVI LABO company was created in 2004 in order to advise the Painting industry faced with regulation evolutions, in particular the 99/13/CE (VOC of installations Painting and other industries) and the 2004/42/CE (VOC in paint pots Building trade & the general public) directives.
In 2005 they are convinced of the usefulness to widen their action while creating their own testing and R&D laboratory. With small means they installed in 12 sqm, which became 110 sqm in 2007 with larger means and the hiring of 2 technicians & 1 marketing woman.
Faced with the seasonality of their trial activity (very active the first 6 months of the year) and concerned about their innovation contribution to their profession, they launched 2 successive R&D programs, based upon Sustainable Development and with the help of ANVAR-OSEO : ALEDD (from November 2005 to March 2008) and PALEDD (from November 2007 to October 2009 – approved by the MAUD cluster). The common set of themes is the formulation of entirely-biosourced Glycero resin (so-called "plant-based Alkyd") and of biosourced paintings (up to 98 %) with an exclusive solvent, i.e. tap water.
This work has been carried out in partnership with a CNRS Paris XII research center. In October 26th 2009 the registration of a patent called ‘Natural Alkyd emulsion-based painting, stemmed from Sustainable Development’ (N° 09/05142) with INPI followed.
After this R&D period, they started industrialization : for the resin, with a company in Lille Metropolis, and for the paintings, with a Parisian company. A range of paintings Building trade is about to be launched. Relating to the general public, discussions & assessments are in progress with a DIY leading distributor. Moreover they are finalizing the implementation of a painting for road lines (still stemmed from the Alkyd biosourced emulsion technology) with the help of a company located in the North of France.
In July 2007 they moved again, to a 300-sqm lab. In 2010 their team is composed of 10 people - 4 of them are exclusively appointed to R&D programs.
They are now willing to spread this concept which combines Health, Respect for the environment (water, earth and air), Sustainable & Economic Developments, on the French market while making principals sensitive.
