The MAUD competitiveness cluster launched ADVISE (“Aide au Développement par la Veille et l’ Intelligence Stratégique Economique” : development aid via monitoring and economic & strategic intelligence), last October 13th, 2009 at the “Ecole des Mines” in Douai, and signed an agreement with INPI (“Institut National de la Propriété Industrielle” : Patent Office).

The study initiated by the MAUD cluster in 2008 relating to the problem of recycling and biodegradability of RFID labels led to the setting-up of a European research consortium, under the technical management of the IEMN (« Institut d’Electronique, de Microélectronique et de Nanotechnologie), together with the CTP (« Centre Technique du Papier »), two members of the MAUD cluster.

Olivier VARLET, General Manager of the MAUD cluster, will belong to the French delegation that will go to Brazil for the 5th Exhibition of Technology and Innovation, INOVATEC 2009, from October 6th to 9th.
INOVATEC is considered as the largest Brazilian event to spread and encourage technological innovations.

A first thematic workshop « Materials and Sustainable Development » took place in the afternoon of June 5th 2009 at the convivial room of the MAUD cluster.
Evolution of regulations, agreement on environment, pressure of public opinion, … Demand for alternative materials, bio-sourced or revalued, biodegradable, is stronger. We put on the agenda the inventory of regulations and options already available or in the near future.
